About Michelle
I'm Michelle A M Miller (she/her) — coach, writer, interdisciplinary artist and INELDA-trained End-of-Life Doula.
The daughter of an Indigenous immigrant mother from Nicaragua and a white American father, I was born and raised in the United States and grew up between worlds—an environmental testing laboratory, long hours in the landscape, and art studios that nurtured two enduring instincts: curiosity about what can be observed and measured, and reverence for all that cannot.
In 2021, my father died, along with three other members of my extended family. Questions I had carried for years became deeply personal. Caregiving and a season of profound loss brought me into a more intimate relationship with death. In time, I completed End-of-Life Doula training as one expression of that ongoing inquiry.
Again and again, I return to one question:
What changes when I remember that I will die?
Remembering that life is finite has taught me to pay closer attention to how I want to live.
I've found few questions more worthy of a lifetime of attention.
How I Work
I work one-to-one drawing on somatic practices, reflective inquiry and, when helpful, death awareness.
Sometimes what's needed isn't more information. It's the time and space to notice what the inertia of everyday life has been drowning out.
Together, we place what feels immediate within the context of a whole life. I'll ask questions, notice patterns, and challenge assumptions as we pay attention to what has been overlooked.
If you'd like company for part of the journey, I'd be glad to walk alongside you.
Background & Practice
Alongside my coaching practice, I am co-founder of INTERVAL PAPER, co-creator of The Good Enough Guide and an interdisciplinary artist.
My artist books are held in 20 public collections including Harvard University and the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art.
I've completed End-of-Life Doula training, the 8-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program, and I'm currently completing certification in Mind-Body Coaching.
My greatest education has come through the many wise mortals I've met.
